Rethinking Fred Thompson

Ok then, I will be the first to admit sometimes to come to a conclusion about somebody just a bit before the jury comes back on them.

This isn't to say I haven't thought it through, I just might be flat out wrong from time to time. Actually some of the bloggers on here have really helped in pointing out his record and his background. Which was a start.

I really liked Huckabee, I think he is the conservative Christian's idea candidate. But, I have to say Thompson had a 100% record with the right to life folks, he seems from all opinion I could see of him, to hold a very conservative line. He is a big hulking guy who delivers his words with a lot of authority.

Most of my reluctance was the fact he is an actor and all his parts he is the same macho tough guy. This I feared could have been an act as many many an actor can act one way a be completely another way, example, the guy who was dad on the Brady Bunch, not in a million would I have thought he were gay.

Anyway, back to my point, after evaluating the facts, looking at Thompson's history, voting, record, country boy and Church background, seeing he was the first in his linage to get a College Degree, and see that he tows the conservative line as well as anybody out there, if he is nominated,  I will be pleased to back him.

So he and Huckabee have my stamp of approval, I would still lean towards Huckabee, but Thompson is looking like a much better candidate to me, he just needs to overtake Rudy, which in my opinion he eventually will.

Hilton Back in Jail

A  kicking and screaming Paris Hilton went back to jail this afternoon after corruption and favoritism was openly exposed in Los Angeles county.  Maybe the "Court" was so embarrased they decided to do the right thing.

Maybe just maybe all the blogging that had been going on about this, all the columns that were written had something to do with it.

Sure, the system of justice is still on the side of the wealthy, this time they just got caught and embarrased back into doing the right thing.

Still it is good to see a kicking and screaming brat, being escorted back to serve her sentence.

Believe it or not I even think it's right to keep her separated from other prisoners. I don't want to see her hurt, just serve the time she was sentenced to.

Republican Nominee's

Well, I accidentally deleted a blog from yesterday where I stated that I though Mike Huckabee seemed to be stepping up as a true conservative who could actually be elected. Unfortunately he doesn't have the voter backing as of yet, I sure hope that changes.

I will try to detail a bit why I think he is the man to "lead" the Conservative movement. What he says is not unusual, the way he delivers it is not exceptional, he simply is a real conservative, with heartfelt conviction.

1) Rudy G.  He is not a conservative, he is pro abortion, lightning struck when he was about to expound on his pro abortion views.   He won't get my vote.   He is a fiscal conservative, but a social liberal.

2) Mitt Romney- Mitt is a weather vane. If the wind is blowing one way, so is his viewpoint.  No way he wins. Pretty boy who I hope sees his candidacy fade very soon. He is the Republican version of  Mr. good hair.

3) Tommy Thompson, conservative, would have no chance for election. May be a shame but he couldn't win a national election.

4) Fred Thompson, actor, who has the look and the voice, but I don't see it.  I simply don't.  Not to split hairs but some of his stances seem to be more political motivation than conviction. A trait I see in common with our current President.

5) John McCain,  though I respect what he went through and sacrificed, he just won't be President and I don't like some of his viewpoints.

6) Huckabee another Arkansan born in Hope Arkansas, was a Southern Baptist Pastor for years and though nobody will agree with everything he says or does, is a REAL conservative from a humble background. His conviction seems to be from the heart and his entire life up until his political career had been aimed at serving God an his fellow man.  Some say he appears a bit weak, but it seems more like meekness not weakness, which is a positive.  I think the country could support a man like Huckabee in office.

My hope is that he gathers momentum and starts to challenge the front runners. I realize he is a long way from it, but there is a lot of time.

If Rudy is nominated, i will not vote for him, I would "throw away" my vote more than likely for a Constitutional Party candidate or similar candidate.

Tom Tancredo from Colorado is the only other candidate that I like that has some "pop" to him, but again I don't see him as electable.

Well what did you expect?

Ok, this just in from the irrelavant front? Paris Hilton walks after 74 hours in the pokey. Now thats a shocker.  Not really.

Yes, a big deal is being made out of this, yes people are all up in arms about it, but

what did we expect? the rich and famous always have and always will have a separate justice system from the rest of us.  They can actually buy people off.

Those who were shocked by this need to get a reality check, OJ didn't walk because he was pretty, he was loaded and could buy the best representation, yes the rich and famous have a separate justice system from US.

Now those middle class girls who look just like Paris and act just like Paris and now think they can get away easy, just like Paris, better think again.  She has the same separate system other stars have, so don't even think about it.

Was this a wakeup call? No.  This was just verification of what has been going on since man has been handing down his form of justice.

Will the day come where all will be judged with the righteous judgement of God, yes it will.  No payoffs or bribes or smooth talking lawyer will matter on that day. You Better be believing in Jesus. No mansions, riches, clout, gravitas, all that stuff will matter, none of it. Faith in Jesus will.  All of our riches and contacts and earthly infulence will end when we meet Jesus.  I just pray that we will have put our faith in Him alone, before that day.

Life is too precious for this.

What is going on in our world that the most vulnerable among us are repeatedly being targeted by sick predators who lurk among the shadows of society waiting to harm the most precious and vulnerable among us.

Little Madeleine McCann was taken from the security of her locked holiday suite whisked away in an instant of time, likely never to be seen again. The parents, of course, should have never left her alone with her siblings, but still there are moments in all our lives when a parent wasn't watching over our shoulder making sure we were safe. Maybe we were walking to school or riding our bike just down the street or just taking a stroll over to a buddies house. Maybe we were even in our front yard playing while our mamma was inside cooking our supper. I don't know what the case might be, but we all have been vulnerable.

What is the alternative to keep the sicko's of our society at bay, what punishment would be effective enough to keep these predators off our streets?

I've seen many of the options from attempted reform to the death penalty.  Statistics bring out that reform is simply not a successful way to change a child predator. The go back to that perversion again and again.

In my opinion if a legitimate conviction of child sexual assault is brought forth, if the child is under the age of  12 years, this should carry a sentence of life in prison without the option for parol.  A second conviction should not be an option because they should not be on the street. This seems harsh to the faint, but think for a moment of the horror a 4 or 5 year old child endures at the hand of a sexual predator. At totally innocent life is shattered in an instant with no regard for them whatsoever.  Damage not just to their body but their spirit as well.

The life of an innocent child child is just to precious, to allow repeat perverted offenders to continue to have a chance to get to and harm these innocent children.  The harshness of this penalty will not only get them of the street but cause others who lean towards these perverted acts to thing twice before they commit them..

For those that have already committed such and act and have been convicted, though they may be walking free because they have completed their sentence, if it occurs again the keys to their cell needs to be locked and thrown away.  This should be law today, no if's ands or buts.

There are those folks who will always object to punishments such as these for these horrendous crimes. But think about the absolute darkness it takes for a heart to commit these acts, much worse than even murder in my mind.

It's time for those among us with a heart for innocent children to demand these penalties, for such an act.
