What is going on in our world that the most vulnerable among us are repeatedly being targeted by sick predators who lurk among the shadows of society waiting to harm the most precious and vulnerable among us.
Little Madeleine McCann was taken from the security of her locked holiday suite whisked away in an instant of time, likely never to be seen again. The parents, of course, should have never left her alone with her siblings, but still there are moments in all our lives when a parent wasn't watching over our shoulder making sure we were safe. Maybe we were walking to school or riding our bike just down the street or just taking a stroll over to a buddies house. Maybe we were even in our front yard playing while our mamma was inside cooking our supper. I don't know what the case might be, but we all have been vulnerable.
What is the alternative to keep the sicko's of our society at bay, what punishment would be effective enough to keep these predators off our streets?
I've seen many of the options from attempted reform to the death penalty. Statistics bring out that reform is simply not a successful way to change a child predator. The go back to that perversion again and again.
In my opinion if a legitimate conviction of child sexual assault is brought forth, if the child is under the age of 12 years, this should carry a sentence of life in prison without the option for parol. A second conviction should not be an option because they should not be on the street. This seems harsh to the faint, but think for a moment of the horror a 4 or 5 year old child endures at the hand of a sexual predator. At totally innocent life is shattered in an instant with no regard for them whatsoever. Damage not just to their body but their spirit as well.
The life of an innocent child child is just to precious, to allow repeat perverted offenders to continue to have a chance to get to and harm these innocent children. The harshness of this penalty will not only get them of the street but cause others who lean towards these perverted acts to thing twice before they commit them..
For those that have already committed such and act and have been convicted, though they may be walking free because they have completed their sentence, if it occurs again the keys to their cell needs to be locked and thrown away. This should be law today, no if's ands or buts.
There are those folks who will always object to punishments such as these for these horrendous crimes. But think about the absolute darkness it takes for a heart to commit these acts, much worse than even murder in my mind.
It's time for those among us with a heart for innocent children to demand these penalties, for such an act.
